Masters Message

“My brothers why is the delivery of ritual by memory so important to Freemasonry? Memory work is a key component of everything we do, starting with the ritual we learn as Entered Apprentices. From that point onward, committing ritual to memory is an integral part of or private and public masonic journeys.

Whatever a group cares to remember most, it entrusts to ritual. And our memorized ritual – our words, position of or hands and feet, our steps, and much more—is what sets us apart from every other fraternal and charitable society in existence.”

Quote by: James Musgrave, GLNS

We at Weston pride ourselves on our memorization of openings, closings and degree work. It makes me so proud to see the work that is done here. This is possible only do to the hard work of the directors of the work and dedication of our brothers.

With Brotherly Love

Letter from The Worshipful Master

My Brothers:

As 2017 has come to a close I would like to take this opportunity to thank our newest Past Master Terry Davis for his hard work. I would like to thank you for your confidence in me to be Worshipful Master for the upcoming year.

As we start a New Year at Weston Lodge let us all strive to make it a great year. To this end I would like all my brothers remember Masonry is not just a bunch of guys getting together two Wednesdays a month to hang out for a couple hours. Masonry is not reading meeting minutes of the past or voting on paying bills we all know need to be paid or for hearing who is sick. Masonry is an unending journey of enlightenment through education.

As 2018 starts I hope to make it a year to remember. My goal is to have a speaker for the first meeting of each month for Masonic education with degree work and proficiencies and short education (3 to 5 minutes) on the second meeting of the month. If you have any ideas on speaker or would like to speak yourself please let me know. We will normally open on the EA degree so all our brother can enter if they are a little late and step up as needed for work to be accomplished except on special call meeting. We will keep doing the things from the past that work and that keep or heritage alive. Try to change some things that can be better or don’t work but I will need your help.

We need brothers to help with breakfast, either to help with or just to come eat, to serve on committees on visitation, membership retention, table lodges, to help Mel and Bobby with posting and being mentors, looking at getting members’ transportation to lodge that need it, new membership, Web site upgrade, paying dues by  credit card and much more. We all know of some things that can change but just talking to each other and not working to correct it doesn’t change anything. I cannot promise we will get it all done but with your help we will try.

I will include in the Lodge Calendar our stated meeting and speakers, the Grand Lodge meeting dates, purposed table lodge dates, purposed Master Mason dates, a summer picnic, Western Welcome Week Child ID, breakfasts and other activities. I will update it as we decide on visitations, changed or added speakers or just as needed. It will accessible on the Web site as soon as someone helps me do it as I am what my daughter calls me “digitally challenged”. I will do my best to have a Master Note in the Trestle Board each month. I will also try to work closer with and support our fellow Masonic organization her at Weston and closer with the Temple Board for the betterment of all.

I am looking forward to a great year with great brothers and with your help it will be.

With Brotherly Love                                                                                                       Steve O'Donnell
