“The moral virtues, then, are produced in us neither by nature nor against nature. Nature indeed prepares in us the ground for their reception, but their complete formation is the product of habit.”
Aristotle.
Brothers. We as Masons are to learn how to achieve moral virtues. We also believe that Masonry will help us be better men, and that is why we initially join this ancient and honorable Fraternity. And I also believe that becoming better men can be accomplished by being virtuous. The question is. Is Masonry alone enough?
What can we do to become virtuous and therefore better men?
I guess it starts by opening our minds and hearts to receive instruction, ideas and rules, which are dictated in all our Masonic lectures and rituals. After all, that is why we joined. To learn to become better men.
Well, here is an idea. If you are like me, and believe that you still have a lot to learn and must work on your achieving the virtues, to become a better man. Come to Lodge, learn from the lectures and get help understanding them. Don’t stay away and believe that there is nothing else for you to learn, or to teach the rest of the brethren.
With brotherly love
